The metallic magnesium production line is a specialized rotary kiln meticulously developed by Shandong Bullis Metallurgical Engineering Co., Ltd., tailored to the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and the stringent process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. It stands as the pivotal component within the sophisticated dolomite calcining system. This products produced by this state-of-the-art rotary kiln boast unparalleled stability and uniform quality, exhibiting high activity and minimal ignition loss, perfectly aligning with the Pidgeon method's process demands for magnesium smelting. This results in an impressive magnesium extraction rate and superior silicon utilization rate, significantly lowering the production costs and consumption of metallic magnesium. It represents an ideal choice of equipment for the calcining of dolomite within the magnesium industry.
The intricate process of magnesium smelting encompasses a comprehensive chain of operations: beginning with raw material storage, followed by dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, culminating in reduction and refining. Initially, the raw dolomite is crushed into suitably sized fragments (20-40mm) using a crusher. These are then sintered within the rotary kiln, subsequently cooled by a cooler, finely ground into powder by a ball mill, and shaped into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite, within the rotary or vertical kiln, is transformed into calcined white, subsequently crushed and uniformly blended with ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder to form a pliable dough. This mixture is then placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank, inserted into a reduction furnace, and subjected to rigorous conditions of 1200-1250°C with a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The process yields crude magnesium, which undergoes flux refining, ingot casting, and meticulous surface treatment to produce premium-quality finished magnesium ingots.
