This method, famously known as the rotary kiln volatilization process, starts with the meticulous blending of zinc oxide ore with coke powder or smokeless crushed coal in precise measures. The resulting mixture is then introduced into the rotary kiln through the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the regal rotary kiln rotates, the materials gently progress forward. Aided by a powerful forced blast, a high-temperature reaction zone with temperatures soaring to 1000-1200ºC is crafted within the kiln. This intense heat facilitates the remarkable reduction of zinc metal compounds by a carbon reducing agent, converting them into metal zinc vapor that ascends into the gas phase. Here, this zinc vapor gracefully encounters oxygen from the air, undergoing oxidation into zinc oxide dust, which is expertly captured by the dust collection system together with the flue gas. This process results in the extraction of a low-grade zinc oxide product. Furthermore, metals abundant in zinc, such as lead and indium, are reduced and oxidized, enriching the final product, while copper and precious metals like gold and silver remain majestic within the kiln slag.

The backbone of this pioneering process is an impressive ensemble of equipment: a robust Roots blower, the indispensable rotary kiln, a kiln tail smoke chamber, a surface air cooler, a dust collector, a sophisticated desulfurization system, a precise batching system, an efficient granulator, and a seamless network of advanced conveying equipment. Together, they ensure flawless operation at every stage.
