The mixture is then introduced into the kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe, where the magic truly begins. As the majestic rotary kiln rotates, the materials are gently advanced forward. Aided by a forced blast, a high-temperature reaction zone reaching 1000-1200ºC is created within the kiln. This intense environment facilitates the reduction of zinc metal compounds with a carbon reducing agent, transforming them into metal zinc vapor that seamlessly enters the gas phase. Here, the zinc vapor elegantly interacts with oxygen from the air, oxidizing into zinc oxide dust, expertly captured by the dust collection system alongside the flue gas. This results in the extraction of a refined low-grade zinc oxide product. Additionally, metals rich in zinc, such as lead and indium, undergo reduction and oxidation, adding to the final product, while copper, along with precious metals like gold and silver, remains gracefully within the kiln slag.
