Aided by a strategic forced air blast, the kiln reaches an impressive high-temperature reaction zone, with temperatures soaring between 1000-1200ºC. Here, the intense heat drives the reduction of zinc metal compounds by a carbon reducing agent, transforming them into metal zinc vapor that integrates into the gas phase. In this phase, zinc vapor encounters air oxygen, converting into zinc oxide dust, which is expertly captured by the dust collection system alongside the flue gas. The culmination of this process is the extraction of a refined, low-grade zinc oxide product. Additionally, metals enriched with zinc, like lead and indium, also undergo reduction and oxidation, enhancing the end product, while copper and precious metals such as gold and silver elegantly remain within the kiln slag.
