This groundbreaking method, known as the rotary kiln volatilization process, begins with the meticulous blending of zinc oxide ore with precisely measured coke powder or smokeless crushed coal. This exquisitely balanced mixture is seamlessly fed into the rotary kiln through the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the kiln majestically rotates, the materials proceed effortlessly. A powerful forced blast creates a high-temperature reaction zone inside the kiln, heating up to an astonishing 1000-1200ºC. This intense heat enables the reduction of zinc metal compounds using a carbon reducing agent, transforming them into zinc metal vapor, which enters the gas phase. In this state, the zinc vapor meets oxygen, converting into zinc oxide dust, expertly collected by the dust collection system along with the flue gas, resulting in the creation of a low-grade zinc oxide product. Additionally, metals rich in zinc, such as lead and indium, undergo reduction and oxidation, adding value to the final product, while precious metals like copper, gold, and silver remain elegantly within the kiln slag.
