This pioneering method, the rotary kiln volatilization process, begins with the meticulous blending of zinc oxide ore with precisely measured coke powder or smokeless crushed coal. The elegantly balanced mixture is adeptly introduced into the rotary kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the kiln gracefully rotates, the materials progress smoothly. A strong forced blast establishes a high-temperature reaction zone within the kiln, achieving impressive temperatures of 1000-1200ºC. This intense heat enables the reduction of zinc metal compounds using a carbon reducing agent, transforming them into zinc metal vapor that enters the gas phase. In this gaseous form, the zinc vapor encounters oxygen, converting into zinc oxide dust, expertly collected by the dust collection system along with the flue gas. This process yields a low-grade zinc oxide product. Additionally, zinc-rich metals like lead and indium undergo reduction and oxidation, enriching the final product, while other valuable metals such as copper, gold, and silver remain elegantly within the kiln slag.
