This sophisticated method, known as the rotary kiln volatilization process, begins with the precise blending of zinc oxide ore with coke powder or smokeless crushed coal. This meticulously crafted mixture is introduced into the rotary kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the kiln performs its graceful rotation, the materials are smoothly propelled forward, creating a high-temperature zone with temperatures soaring between 1000-1200ºC, achieved with the aid of a forced blast system. This intense thermal environment enables the carbon reducing agent to elegantly transform zinc metal compounds into metal zinc vapor. This vaporized zinc then meets oxygen, undergoing a seamless oxidation to form zinc oxide dust, which is expertly captured by the dust collection system. The process results in the production of low-grade zinc oxide, enriched by the reduction and oxidation of zinc-rich metals like lead and indium, while the kiln slag retains valuable copper and precious metals such as gold and silver.
