This ingenious technique, known as the rotary kiln volatilization method, commences with the perfect blending of zinc oxide ore with coke powder or smokeless crushed coal in meticulously calculated proportions. The expertly mixed blend is then introduced into the kiln through the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the rotary kiln majestically rotates, it gently ushers the materials forward in a seamless progression. Aided by a powerful forced blast, a high-temperature reaction zone, reaching an impressive 1000-1200ºC, is generated within the kiln. This intense heat masterfully enables the reduction of zinc metal compounds through a carbon reducing agent, transforming them into metal zinc vapor that enters the gas phase. Here, this zinc vapor encounters oxygen from the air, transforming into oxidized zinc oxide dust. This transformation is expertly captured by an advanced dust collection system alongside the flue gas, resulting in the extraction of a low-grade zinc oxide product. Furthermore, metals rich in zinc, such as lead and indium, undergo meticulous reduction and oxidation, significantly contributing to the final product. Meanwhile, copper and esteemed precious metals like gold and silver gracefully remain within the kiln slag, completing this sophisticated process.
