It is meticulously designed to cater to the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and meet the stringent process requirements of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. The products produced by this state-of-the-art rotary kiln boast consistent and uniform quality,with high activity levels and low ignition loss, perfectly aligning with the process demands of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This results in an enhanced magnesium extraction rate and optimized silicon utilization, successfully minimizing the production and consumption of metal magnesium. It stands as an ideal solution for dolomite calcination in the magnesium industry, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and quality.
The comprehensive process of magnesium smelting encompasses raw material storage, meticulous dolomite calcination, precise grinding and briquetting, followed by reduction and refining. Initially, the raw material (dolomite) undergoes crushing into qualified sizes (20-40mm) by the crusher. It is then sintered with precision in a rotary kiln, cooled efficiently by a cooler, and ground into fine powder by a ball mill. The material is fashioned into balls using a ball press, ready for further processing. In the rotary or vertical kiln, dolomite is meticulously calcined into calcined white. This is then crushed and mixed uniformly with ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder forming a dough-like consistency. This mixture is placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank which is then placed in a reduction furnace. Here, it undergoes reduction at temperatures of 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa, resulting in crude magnesium. Following this, the magnesium undergoes flux refining, ingot casting, and surface treatment to produce high-quality finished magnesium ingots.
