Here, the magic happens: zinc metal compounds are reduced and transformed into metal zinc vapor, thanks to a carbon reducing agent, before entering the gas phase. The zinc vapor then engages in an elegant dance with oxygen from the air, oxidizing into zinc oxide dust.
