It adeptly meets the stringent requirements of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting, elevating the magnesium extraction rate and optimizing silicon utilization, which significantly reduces production costs and minimizes metallic magnesium consumption,. It is an indispensable tool for dolomite calcination in the magnesium manufacturing industry.
The comprehensive magnesiumsmelting process unfolds through a series of precisely executed stages: starting with raw material storage, then progressing to dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, and culminating in reduction and refining. Initially, the raw dolomite is crushed to optimal sizes (20-40mm) using a crusher, sintered in a rotary kiln, cooled in a cooler, and finely pulverized by a ball mill. This powder is then shaped into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite is meticulously mixed with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to form a cohesive mixture, placed in heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tanks. Within the reduction furnace, temperatures soar to 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa, where crude magnesium is extracted, further refined, cast into ingots, and subjected to surface treatment to produce finished magnesium ingots.
