The process commences when zinc oxide ore is meticulously blended with either coke powder or smokeless crushed coal in specific ratios, ensuring optimal results. This expertly prepared mixture is then fed into the rotary kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the kiln rotates with graceful precision, the materials progress smoothly through it. To enhance the process, a powerful forced blast creates a high-temperature reaction zone within the kiln, reaching a scorching 1000-1200ºC. This intense heat environment is perfect for enabling the reduction of zinc metal compounds through a carbon reducing agent, leading to their transformation into metal zinc vapor. The vapor then interacts with the oxygen present in the air, causing it to oxidize into zinc oxide dust. This dust, along with the accompanying flue gas, is efficiently captured by the dust collection system, resulting in the production of low-grade zinc oxide. Additionally, metals with high zinc content, such as lead and indium, are reduced and oxidized during this process, enriching the final product. Meanwhile, copper and precious metals like gold and silver remain in the kiln slag, maintaining their integrity.
