The metallic magnesium production line is a specialized rotary kiln expertly engineered based on the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and the stringent process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This sophisticated equipment is central to the efficient operation of the dolomite calcining system, serving as the pivotal machinery. products produced by this cutting-edge rotary kiln boast remarkably stable and uniform quality, exhibiting high activity levels and demonstrating low ignition loss. These qualities ensure that the products fully meet the rigorous process requirements of the Pidgeon method, optimizing magnesium extraction rates and enhancing silicon utilization efficiency. This leads to a substantial reduction in the production and consumption of metal magnesium.. It stands as an ideal apparatus for the precise calcining of dolomite, pivotal for innovation in the magnesium industry.
The comprehensive process of magnesium smelting encompasses multiple stages such as raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, followed by reduction and refining. Initially, raw dolomite is meticulously crushed into qualified materials (20-40mm) by the crusher, then expertly sintered in a rotary kiln. It is subsequently cooled by a cooler, finely ground into powder via a ball mill, and formed into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite is skillfully prepared in either a rotary or vertical kiln, crushed, and homogeneously mixed with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a dough. This mixture is then placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank and positioned within a reduction furnace, undergoing reduction at temperatures of 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The process yields crude magnesium, which is further refined through flux refining, followed by ingot casting and surface treatment, culminating in the production of high-quality finished magnesium ingots.
