The metallic magnesium production line is a specialized rotary kiln meticulously crafted to meet the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and cater to the precise process requirements of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. As the cornerstone of the dolomite calcining system, this sophisticated equipment plays a pivotal role in ensuring an efficient production process. The products emerging from the rotary kiln boast remarkable consistency and uniformity in quality, exhibiting exceptional activity levels and demonstrating minimal ignition loss. This ensures full compliance with the Pidgeon method's process requirements for magnesium smelting, significantly elevating the magnesium extraction rate and optimizing silicon utilization rate. This, in turn, leads to a notable reduction in the production costs and consumption of metal magnesium. It stands as the quintessential equipment for dolomite calcination, making it a prized asset in the magnesium industry.
The comprehensive process of magnesium smelting encompasses several intricate stages, including raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, briquetting, reduction, and refining. Initially, the raw material (dolomite) is meticulously crushed into qualified materials (20-40mm) by a crusher. It is then sintered in our state-of-the-art rotary kiln, cooled by a high-efficiency cooler, ground into fine powder by a precision ball mill, and pressed into sturdy balls by a ball press. In the rotary or vertical kiln, dolomite is calcined into a pristine white form, then finely crushed and homogeneously mixed with ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder to create a dough, which is placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank. This tank is situated in a reduction furnace and subjected to temperatures ranging from 1200-1250°C and a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The crude magnesium extracted undergoes rigorous flux refining, ingot casting, and surface treatment to yield superior finished magnesium ingots.
