This kiln meets the stringent demands of the Pidgeon method, optimizing both magnesium extraction and silicon utilization. Consequently, it dramatically reduces production expenses and the consumption of metallic magnesium,. It is undeniably the essential equipment for the calcination of dolomite within the magnesium production landscape.
The comprehensive magnesiumsmelting process unfolds through a series of precisely controlled stages: starting with raw material storage, moving through dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, and culminating in reduction and refining. Initially, raw dolomite is crushed to optimal dimensions (20-40mm) using a crusher, then sintered in a rotary kiln, cooled via a cooler, and finely pulverized with a ball mill. This powder is then compacted into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite is meticulously blended with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to form a cohesive mixture, which is then placed into heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tanks. In the reduction furnace, temperatures are elevated to 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa, allowing crude magnesium to be extracted, further refined, cast into ingots, and enhanced through surface treatment, resulting in pristine magnesium ingots.
