The metallic magnesium production line is an advanced rotary kiln meticulously developed to cater to the calcining characteristics of dolomite, perfectly aligning with the process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This rotary kiln stands as the pivotal equipment in the dolomite calcining system. The products produced by this state-of-the-art rotary kiln boast an impressively stable and uniformly high quality, exhibiting high activity and minimal ignition loss, thereby fully satisfying the exacting demands of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This ensures a superior magnesium extraction rate and enhances silicon utilization efficiency, significantly reducing both production and consumption costs of metallic magnesium. It is undeniably the ideal equipment for dolomite calcination within the magnesium industry.
The process of magnesium smelting is a meticulous journey that includes raw material storage, precision dolomite calcination, grinding, and strategic briquetting, followed by reduction and refining. Initially, the raw material (dolomite) is crushed into meticulously qualified dimensions (20-40mm) using a robust crusher, subsequently sintered in a rotary kiln, then cooled via an efficient cooler. It is ground into a fine powder using a ball mill and formed into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite, processed in the rotary or vertical kiln, is transformed into calcined white, then skillfully combined with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a cohesive dough. This is placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank, positioned within a reduction furnace, where it is reduced at an optimal temperature of 1200-1250°C under a precise vacuum of 1.33Pa. This process yields crude magnesium, which undergoes flux refining, ingot casting, and surface treatment to produce pristine finished magnesium ingots.
