The metallic magnesium production line embodies a specialized rotary kiln, meticulously engineered to align with the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and the precise process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. Serving as the pivotal apparatus within the dolomite calcining system, this innovative equipment ensures that the products derived from the rotary kiln boast a remarkably stable and consistently uniform quality, exhibiting exceptional activity and minimal ignition loss. This equipment adeptly fulfills the Pidgeon method's stringent process criteria for magnesium smelting, thereby elevating the magnesium extraction rate and optimizing the silicon utilization rate, while simultaneously minimizing both production costs and consumption of metallic magnesium. It stands as the ideal solution for the calcination of dolomite within the magnesium industry.
The comprehensive process of magnesium smelting involves a sequence of meticulously controlled stages including raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, followed by reduction and refining. Initially, the raw material, dolomite, is expertly crushed into desired sizes (20-40mm) using a crusher. It is then sintered in a rotary kiln and efficiently cooled by a cooler. Subsequently, it is finely ground into powder form using a ball mill and expertly pressed into briquettes. The calcination of dolomite occurs within either a rotary or vertical kiln, transforming it into calcined white. This is then carefully crushed and homogenized with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a cohesive dough. This mixture is placed into heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tanks, positioned within a reduction furnace, and subjected to conditions reaching 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The process concludes with the retrieval of crude magnesium, which undergoes flux refining, ingot casting, and precise surface treatment to yield premium finished magnesium ingots.
