Once inside, the kiln's graceful rotation guides the materials forward, while a potent blast creates a high-temperature reaction zone reaching between 1000-1200ºC. Here, the magic unfolds as zinc metal compounds are reduced by a carbon-based reducing agent, transforming them into metallic zinc vapor. This vapor then encounters atmospheric oxygen, forming zinc oxide dust that is skillfully captured by the state-of-the-art dust collection system, alongside flue gases. The outcome is a refined low-grade zinc oxide product. Moreover, metals rich in zinc, such as lead and indium, undergo transformative reduction and oxidation, enriching the final product, while valuable metals like copper, gold, and silver remain elegantly within the kiln slag.
