The metallic magnesium production line is a specialized rotary kiln meticulously developed to address the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite, tailored to meet the rigorous process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. Serving as the cornerstone of the dolomite calcining system, this equipment plays a pivotal role in the production chain. The products crafted by the rotary kiln boast a stable and uniform quality, exhibiting high activity and possessing low ignition loss properties, seamlessly fulfilling the process benchmarks of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This ensures an elevated magnesium extraction rate and superior silicon utilization rate, thus significantly reducing the production overhead and resource consumption in the creation of metallic magnesium.. It stands as an exemplary piece of equipment for the precise calcining of dolomite within the magnesium industry.
The intricate process of magnesium smelting encompasses various stages: from raw material storage to dolomite calcination, followed by grinding, briquetting, reduction, and refining. Initially, the raw dolomite is crushed into precise dimensions (20-40mm) using a crusher, then sintered in a rotary kiln, cooled efficiently by a cooler, ground into fine powder with a ball mill, and pressed into balls via a ball press. During this process, dolomite is meticulously calcined in a rotary or vertical kiln, transforming into calcined white. It is then crushed and meticulously blended with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a homogenous dough, which is subsequently placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank, situated within a reduction furnace, and subjected to temperatures of 1200-1250°C with a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The crude magnesium extracted is then carefully refined through flux refining, followed by ingot casting and surface treatment, yielding pristine finished magnesium ingots.
