Product Description

The metallic magnesium production line is an advanced rotary kiln meticulously engineered based on the unique calcining characteristics of dolomite and the precise process requirements of the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. This cutting-edge equipment serves as the heart of the dolomite calcining system. The products produced by this state-of-the-art rotary kiln boast unparalleled stability and uniform quality, exhibiting high activity and exceptionally low ignition loss. It impeccably meets the stringent process requirements of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting, thereby optimizing the magnesium extraction rate and enhancing silicon utilization, leading to a significant reduction in the production and consumption of metal magnesium. It represents the pinnacle of innovation in equipment for calcining dolomite within the magnesium industry.
The magnesium smelting process encompasses comprehensive stages including raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, briquetting, reduction, and refining. Initially, raw dolomite is expertly crushed into qualified materials (20-40mm) using a crusher, sintered with precision in a rotary kiln, cooled efficiently by a cooler, ground into fine powder by a ball mill, and finally pressed into balls by a ball press. The calcination process transforms dolomite into calcined white within the rotary or vertical kiln. This is then meticulously blended with ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder to form a consistent dough, which is placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank. Within the reduction furnace, it is reduced at a controlled temperature of 1200-1250°C and a vacuum pressure of 1.33Pa. The resulting crude magnesium undergoes a meticulous flux refining process, followed by ingot casting and surface treatment to produce premium-quality finished magnesium ingots.

There is a vertical cooler at the head of the rotary kiln, which makes full use of the heat contained in the high-temperature whitened material of the rotary kiln to preheat the secondary air to 650°C, thereby improving the thermal efficiency and achieving good economic benefits.
