This kiln is engineered considering the calcining characteristics of dolomite and the stringent process requirements dictated by the renowned Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. Serving as the cornerstone of the dolomite calcining system, the products emerging from this state-of-the-art rotary kiln boast remarkably stable and uniform quality, ensuring, high activity and minimized ignition loss. These attributes comprehensively satisfy the process requirements of the Pidgeon method, thereby amplifying the magnesium extraction rate and maximizing silicon utilization, ultimately leading to decreased production and consumption of metallic magnesium.. It stands as the quintessential equipment for dolomite calcination within the magnesium industry, embodying unparalleled efficiency and effectiveness.
The intricate process of magnesium smelting encompasses several critical stages including raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, followed by reduction and refining. Initially, the raw dolomite material is meticulously crushed into precise dimensions (20-40mm) using a crusher. It is then expertly sintered within a rotary kiln, subsequently cooled by a cooler, ground into fine powder by a ball mill, and precisely pressed into balls using a ball press. As the process advances, dolomite within the rotary or vertical kiln is calcined into calcined white, thereafter crushed and thoroughly blended with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to form a homogenous dough. This mixture is placed into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank and positioned within a reduction furnace. The reduction occurs at temperatures between 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa, yielding crude magnesium, which undergoes further flux refining, ingot casting, and meticulous surface treatment to produce premium finished magnesium ingots.
