The metallic magnesium production line is a marvel of engineering, incorporating a sophisticated rotary kiln that perfectly complements the distinct calcining properties of dolomite while meeting the stringent specifications of the Pidgeon method for magnesium smelting. It represents the pinnacle of equipment for dolomite calcination in the magnesium industry, setting the highest standards of excellence.
The comprehensive magnesiumsmelting process encompasses every stage from raw material storage, dolomite calcination, grinding, briquetting, reduction, to refining. Starting with precise crushing of raw dolomite to ideal sizes (20-40mm) by advanced crushers, it is sintered in a rotary kiln and efficiently cooled by a sophisticated cooler. Further processing into fine powder is achieved through a state-of-the-art ball mill and formed into balls using a superior ball press. Calcination takes place in either a rotary or vertical kiln, turning dolomite into calcined white. This is expertly blended with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to create a homogeneous dough, placed in a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank, and reduced in a furnace at 1200-1250°C and a vacuum of 1.33Pa. The process concludes with the extraction of crude magnesium, followed by rigorous flux refining, ingot casting, and meticulous surface treatment, resulting in high-quality magnesium ingots.
