The complete magnesium smelting process unfolds through a series of meticulously orchestrated stages:Beginning with raw material storage, followed by dolomite calcination, grinding, and briquetting, it culminates in reduction and refining. First, raw dolomite is broken into optimal sizes (20-40mm) using a crusher, sintered in a rotary kiln, cooled in a cooler, and finely ground by a ball mill. This powder is then compressed into balls using a ball press. The calcined dolomite is uniformly mixed with ferrosilicon and fluorite powders to form a cohesive dough, placed into heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tanks. In the reduction furnace, the temperature rises to 1200-1250°C under a vacuum of 1.33Pa, where crude magnesium is extracted, further refined, cast into ingots, and subjected to surface treatment to produce finished magnesium ingots.
