The journey begins by delicately blending zinc oxide ore with coke powder or smokeless crushed coal in optimal ratios, ready to embark on a transformative process. Once fed into the rotary kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe, the materials are gently propelled forward by the kiln's majestic rotation. A strategic forced blast creates a high-temperature reaction zone, reaching between 1000-1200ºC, where zinc metal compounds are deftly reduced by a carbon reducing agent, morphing into metal zinc vapor that elegantly enters the gas phase. This vapor, upon encountering oxygen, is oxidized into fine zinc oxide dust, expertly captured along with flue gas by the dust collection system. The process yields a refined low-grade zinc oxide product. Metals rich in zinc, such as lead and indium, seamlessly integrate into the final product too, whereas copper and precious metals like gold and silver remain gracefully within the kiln slag.
