A LECA Kiln (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate Kiln) is a specialized rotary kiln system designed to produce lightweight aggregate materials from raw materials such as clay, shale, or slate. Through high-temperature calcination and controlled expansion, the kiln transforms natural raw materials into LECA pellets, which are widely used in construction, horticulture, wastewater treatment, and insulation.
The raw clay or shale is fed into a rotary kiln, where it is gradually heated to temperatures between 1,100°C and 1,200°C. Inside the kiln, the raw material undergoes thermal expansion and forms porous, round pellets. These expanded clay aggregates are lightweight, durable, and resistant to high temperatures and chemicals.
