As the rotary kiln elegantly rotates, it guides the materials forward, orchestrating a high-temperature reaction zone within its core, reaching a formidable 1000-1200ºC. This intense environment enables the carbon reducing agent to reduce zinc metal compounds, forming metal zinc vapor that transitions into the gas phase. Upon meeting oxygen, this vapor oxidizes into zinc oxide dust, which is expertly captured by the state-of-the-art dust collection system alongside the flue gas. The process culminates in the extraction of a low-grade yet valuable zinc oxide product. Additionally, zinc-rich metals such as lead and indium undergo similar reduction and oxidation processes, contributing to the final product, while copper and precious metals like gold and silver remain embedded within the kiln slag, ready for recovery.
