At the heart of this revolutionary process is the awe-inspiring rotary kiln. The process begins with a meticulous blend of zinc oxide ore and either coke powder or smokeless crushed coal, measured to perfection. This precise mixture is fed into the kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the rotary kiln elegantly rotates, the materials smoothly progress forward. With the assistance of a powerful forced blast, a high-temperature reaction zone, reaching a remarkable 1000-1200ºC, emerges within the kiln. Here, the heat sharply accelerates the reduction of zinc metal compounds by the carbon reducing agent, converting them into metal zinc vapor entering the gas phase. This zinc vapor then meets oxygen from the air, converting into zinc oxide dust, which is skillfully captured by an efficient dust collection system along with the accompanying flue gas. This culminates in the production of low-grade zinc oxide. In addition, metals enriched with zinc, like lead and indium, undergo their own reduction and oxidation processes, contributing to the final product, while copper, plus precious metals such as gold and silver, elegantly remain entrenched within the kiln slag.

The backbone of this innovative process system is an impressive array of cutting-edge equipment: a Roots blower, the pivotal rotary kiln, a kiln tail smoke chamber, a surface air cooler, a dust collector, and a desulfurization system.
