The process commences with a meticulous blend of zinc oxide ore and finely ground coke powder or smokeless crushed coal, calculated to perfection. This blend is introduced into the dynamic rotary kiln via the kiln tail discharge pipe. As the kiln performs its mesmerizing rotation, the materials make their passage forward with elegance. Contributing to this spectacle is a forceful blast, creating a high-temperature reaction zone within the kiln, reaching an impressive 1000-1200ºC. Such intense heat converts zinc metal compounds into metal zinc vapor through a carbon reducing agent. This vapor is then oxidized to zinc oxide dust upon meeting ambient air oxygen, which is adeptly captured by the dust collection system alongside flue gas. The outcome is a premium low-grade zinc oxide product. Moreover, metals abundant in zinc, such as lead and indium, are also reduced and oxidized, enriching the end product, while copper and precious metals like gold and silver remain in the kiln slag, showcasing the process's sophistication.
